Huntley Speaks Out: August 18, 2020
What do you think of the District 158 decision to open the school year with remote learning?

Geoffrey Dailey, Huntley: “I think that’s it’s a mistake to do that. The kids are losing out on an education. I think the whole coronavirus thing, although it has to be taken seriously, they’re taking it to the extremes where it’s become nothing but political. We should practice safety measures, washing hands, things we should be doing every day, but I think it’s going to be a detriment to the kids and especially to the parents from a financial aspect.”
Tom Link, Huntley: “I agree with the remote learning. With the pandemic going on and the numbers increasing, I’m all for it, at the present time.”
Kate Johnson, Huntley: “It’s a tough decision. I don’t know what the right answer is. I think I have a different perspective because my children are older. I have a middle school and a high school, so for them I was looking forward to the hybrid allowing (students to take in-person classes at the school)every other day, which would work great for the older kids. But I understand for the little ones, the (kindergarten) through sixth, they were all going to go back. But safety has to come first. I know it’s going to be a struggle for parents who are going back to work, so I’m not sure how that’s going to affect those families with younger children.”
Brandon Bowers, Huntley: “I would like for them to go back normally, so I’m not for the remote. I feel the kids get a better education when it’s in person. And they can socialize with their friends and be able to be around other kids.”
Mike Pasanen, Huntley: “I’m glad our kids are daycare, which is open, so it doesn’t really affect us. But I do feel sorry for the parents who have to deal with the inconvenience. You have to balance safety with the kids’ education, so it’s a tough decision.”
