Railroad plans are back on track
HUNTLEY – An on-again, off-again plan to expand rail service across northern Illinois, connecting Rockford and Chicago, is back on track, according to a news release from a Rockford legislator. The release claims the plan could revive the idea of a train station in downtown Huntley, along this track between Main and Mills streets. State Sen. Steve Stadelman said the Illinois Department of Transportation has hired a project manager to look into a rail line connection that would operate Metra trains out of Chicago, instead of Amtrak trains as had previously been discussed. The plan would be part of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Rebuild Illinois plan.
