Huntley Speaks Out
What are your thoughts on indoor dining during the pandemic?

Jesus Mojica, Huntley: “I work at an HVAC company and I believe it’s important for restaurants that do choose to do indoor dining, to have a good ventilation system in place to make patrons feel safe. Bars, I can understand their need to stay open to indoor dining, but I’m opposed to it. I’m not too big on the idea of indoor dining right now.” | ![]() |

Maricruz Ortiz, Elgin: “I would want it, because it’s mostly where servers get their money from. Dining in is where people come and want to have a good time. They want to relax, enjoy their food and so I think dine in, the service, is important to many restaurants.” | ![]() |

Donna Buettner, Huntley: “I am happy they are doing so! I am hoping people who feel comfortable doing so will continue to use their facilities! If the government was stepping up and paying these people not to lose their family businesses, then maybe they could close. However, too many businesses are closing due to loss of income that they cannot recover. It breaks my heart! I am not health compromised, I take extra vitamins and minerals to boost my immune system through all of this. I think if someone is comfortable going out, they should be able to. If someone isn’t comfortable, they shouldn’t go. God bless these businesses and our little town.” | ![]() |

Mike and Cindy Ptak, Sun City: “We will order out from local restaurants, even if they are noncompliant, so that they can hopefully stay in business. Casa Rubio’s has already closed, presumably because of the pandemic and the resulting loss of business. We can’t afford to lose our local restaurants and bars. We are not going to dine in anywhere. If restaurants and bars cannot have indoor service, we understand. What we don’t understand is why some stores that are allowed to stay open are not enforcing mask wearing for everyone, let alone wearing them properly. We know that no employee wants to be in that position, but….it needs to be done. Maybe by a manager, or at least an adult. Our local businesses form a big portion of the tax base that supports our community. We have to understand that for some of them, this is the second time they’ve had to close and hope to survive. So, we’re trying to shop local and eat local as much as possible.” | ![]() |
