Vehicle crashes into Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Huntley
HUNTLEY – The Huntley Police Department alongside the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to a call at approximately 9:25 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 23, to a report of a vehicle having collided through the Tropical Smoothie Café building located at 12162 Illinois Route 47.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 2017 Ford Escape was found to be partially in the building. Based on a statement from the Huntley Police Department, the driver was described as a 75-year-old Huntley woman. The woman told authorities that her vehicle had slid in the parking lot, going over the curb, with the result ending in the vehicle striking the front of the building.
There were no reported injuries to the driver or occupants of the building.
The building was determined to be structurally sound, but the front entrance was barricaded, pending repairs to the entrance area.
Tropical Smoothie Café in Huntley will be temporarily closed for business until repairs can be completed.
Owner Bhavesh Patel stated that he was unsure when repairs would be completed on the building, but commented that there will be someone coming Feb. 24 to look at the extent of the damages and begin preparations for repairs.
Patel was also unsure as to when Tropical Smoothie in Huntley would be ready to take orders, but stated that he may consider taking orders as soon as tomorrow (Feb. 24), but it all depends on what repairs may entail, so that is not guaranteed.
