Huntley Speaks Out
Now that the snow is finally melting and spring is getting closer, what do you look forward to most?

Maria R., Crystal Lake: “Shoveling the chronic snowfall has been brutal because of the size of my driveway and sustaining extended exposure to the cold in order to shovel. I got frostbite twice now. Secondly, I have a dog. I had to buy her an expensive parka coat with fleece in order to protect her from the cold when I take her out to pee…This cold has been very challenging for all I know, but more so for a single female with only a shovel and a dog I love. Is it spring yet?” | ![]() |

Eric Krush, Huntley: “Years ago, my father asked one of the neighbors who was a farmer about the winter. He asked him what he thought the winter was going to be like. The farmer replied ‘I will tell you next spring.’ At first, that statement sounds like a joke, but as time went on the statement made so much sense. You always have to expect the worst…I have learned to prepare for a hard winter, as it is better to be proactive than reactive. You have to take the good with the bad. The snow is beautiful, but the cold not so much. We have no control over mother nature as you can never know what is going to happen. Well, at least not until the spring.” | ![]() |
