
Consolidated election winners announced
MCHENRY COUNTY – McHenry County officials responded to anomalies having occurred in the April 6 consolidated election results, stating some races were misreported. After retabulating results, official winners can be announced. Mail-in ballots could take up to 14 days to be received and counted, at which point the winners will be official.
Below are the results for who will take office as the Village President in Huntley, sit on the Huntley Board of Trustees, and serve on the District 158 (D158) Board of Education.
Village of Huntley President winner:
Tim Hoeft
Despite Chuck Sass having the lead in Kane County with 427 votes over Hoeft’s 363 votes, Hoeft managed to maintain the lead of 880 votes in McHenry County over Sass’ 763 votes. Sass’ total vote count for both counties came out to 1,200 votes, while Hoeft finished the race with a total of 1,243 votes. This gives Hoeft a 43-vote lead, declaring Hoeft the new Huntley Village President.
Village of Huntley Board of Trustees winners:
Ronda Goldman, JR Westberg, and Mary Holzkopf
In a surprising turn of events, newcomer Mary Holzkopf beat out incumbent John Piwko for the third chair on the Huntley Board of Trustees. Incumbent Ronda Goldman held the lead over every trustee candidate in Kane County, with 548 votes and 914 votes in McHenry County. Her total vote count amounted to 1,462 votes. Incumbent JR Westberg on the other hand, had the highest vote count in McHenry County with 976 votes. His Kane County vote count amounted to 420 making his total vote count 1,396.
Piwko had a lead with a 414-vote count in Kane County over Holzkopf’s 334 votes. Though newcomer Burt Natkins held the second highest number of votes in Kane County with 468 votes. Holzkopf managed to get the lead in McHenry County over both Natkins and Piwko with a vote count of 919. Piwko had a McHenry County vote count of 800 and Natkins had a vote count of 540.
Holzkopf’s total vote count for both counties amounted to 1,253 votes declaring her the winner of the third Village trustee spot. She had a 39-vote lead over Piwko’s total vote count of 1,214. Natkins had a total vote count of 1,008 for both counties.
D158 Board of Education winners:
Sean Cratty, Lesli Melendy, Paul Troy, and Anthony “Tony” Quagliano
All four incumbents won their reelection back on D158’s Board of Trustees. Cratty had the highest total vote count at 1,516 votes between Kane and McHenry Counties. Melendy came in second with combined county votes of 1,401. Troy got 1,397 votes between the two counties. Leaving the last seat to Quagliano who got 1,338 votes.
Newcomer Susan Hochmuth had the highest total vote count among the other newcomers at 1,090 votes between Kane and McHenry counties. Laura Murray came next with 1,033 total votes between the two counties. Katherine “Kate” Policheri had 1,030 total votes. Leaving Dana Dalton-Wiley with 930 combined county votes. Newcomer Tara Masino had the lowest total vote count between Kane and McHenry Counties, at 703.
Write-in candidate Jennifer Sargent did not appear on results for either Kane or McHenry Counties.
