Treasurer’s Office to Reopen Lobby to Foot Traffic

WOODSTOCK, Ill. – The McHenry County Treasurer’s Office lobby will reopen for property tax payments and passport services effective Monday, May 24, Treasurer Glenda Miller announced.

In order to protect office employees and the public, lobby activity will be monitored to mitigate overcrowding, and visitors will be required to wear masks and maintain six-foot physical distancing. The Treasurer’s Office is located at 2100 N. Seminary Ave., just south of the Michael J. Sullivan Judicial Center.

“With property tax bills set to be mailed out, and with more people being vaccinated and state mitigation measures being loosened, it’s time for us to once again offer walk-up service for our residents,” Miller said. “And, as always, people who are more comfortable paying their taxes through the drive-thru lanes are more than welcome to do so.”

Tax bills are scheduled to be mailed out May 7, with installment due dates set for June 7 and Sept. 7. Starting May 7, property owners also will be able to look up their bills online at www.mchenrytreasurer.org. Taxpayers can pay online through the Treasurer’s Office website, and can pay by mail; a number of McHenry County banks also will accept tax payments for their customers. Passport processing will be handled by appointment only starting May 24, and appointments can be made by calling 815-334-4619. If you have an emergency situation or need a passport processed before then, please contact the Federal Passport Office at 877-487-2778.

Walk-in hours will match the drive-thru hours of 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Friday; the latest time for passport appointments will be 4:30 p.m.
