
State Police still investigating I-90 collision near Huntley
HUNTLEY – On May 1 at approximately 8:57 a.m., Illinois State Police (ISP) District 15 Troopers responded to a one-unit personal injury motor vehicle crash at the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) eastbound milepost 46.75 which is located near Powers Road in the Kane County portion of Huntley.
ISP Trooper Jayme Bufford stated that preliminary reports indicated that a 2020 silver Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound when it struck the concrete Interstate wall.
Reports indicated that after the sole male occupant struck the wall, he “exited the vehicle and headed eastbound from the scene of the crash.”
At around 9:21 a.m., the driver jumped from the Powers Road bridge (milepost 4.8) onto I-90 eastbound.
The Huntley Fire Protection District responded to the accident where they assisted in transporting the driver to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
The Huntley Fire Protection District did not respond to requests for comment from My Huntley News.
There were no further details released into why the male driver jumped from the bridge, though the investigation remains open and ongoing.
