Victor H. Ayllon of Elgin was arrested on July 13 for the murder of Wendy Ayllon
ELGIN – The Elgin Police Department released a statement describing a situation that occurred on July 12 at approximately 6:40 p.m.
According to the statement, officers were dispatched to the area of Lawrence Avenue and North Aldine Street for a report of a found child in the area.
Further investigation led officers to the discovery that the child, who was unharmed, lived in the 300 block of Heine Avenue. The statement goes further to explain that “officers then responded to the 300 block of Heine where another child was located unharmed in the residence.”
Upon entering the home, officers uncovered a deceased female subject, who has since been identified as 33-year-old Wendy Ayllon of Elgin.
According to a statement released from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, 35-year-old Victor H. Ayllon, was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the strangulation death of Wendy that occurred on Monday, July 12.
Kane County prosecutors allege that Victor strangled Wendy at their Elgin home, which subsequently caused her death.
Detectives from the Major Investigations Division and Special Investigations Division had been actively investigating the case with assistance from the Streamwood Police Department.
On July 13, several Streamwood residents reported seeing Elgin Police officers stationed outside of a home in the Laurel Court area.
Bill Lehman, a Streamwood resident who captured the police encounter via a Facebook live video, explained that he got a phone call from village officials at approximately 3:30 a.m. instructing him not to leave his residence.
Lehman stated that the owners of the Laurel Court house where Victor was later apprehended by police, had just recently gone away on vacation. Lehman was unsure whether Victor had any connections to that family or not.
Victor appeared in Kane County bond court on July 15, where the judge set his bail at $3 million with 10% ($300,000) to apply for bond. Victor’s initial court appearance is set for 9:00 a.m. on July 22 in Courtroom 313 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser, described the importance of highlighting the warning signs of domestic violence in order to not repeat the cycle of abuse for victims.
“The accusations against Mr. Ayllon represent the worst possible outcome of domestic violence, and why this office works so hard to end domestic abuse. Too often, without intervention, an abusive home situation escalates into violence, and sadly, death. That doesn’t need to happen. My thanks to Elgin Chief of Police Ana Lalley and her team for the quick and thorough investigation,” Mosser said.
Ana Lalley, Elgin’s chief of police, also gave a statement regarding the incident.
“I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Ayllon. The arrest of Mr. Ayllon happened in an expeditious manner and was due to the significant efforts by the dedicated men and women of the department,” Lalley said.
She continued, “From members of our SWAT team who placed Mr. Ayllon in custody without incident, to members of our Special Investigations Group and Major Investigations Division who worked tirelessly these past few days, and our patrol officers who initially responded and ensured the safety of the children involved; their professionalism and dedication is what brought a quick resolution to this case. I hope that the arrest of Mr. Ayllon helps begin the healing process for the family and friends of Mrs. Ayllon.”
Victor is currently being detained at the Kane County Adult Justice Center in St. Charles.
