
Chicago man charged with the murder of a Carpentersville man
CARPENTERSVILLE – On July 29, the Carpentersville Police Department released a statement regarding an incident involving shots fired at the Foxview Apartment Complex located in the 1-99 block of Oxford Road in Carpentersville.
According to Carpentersville Police Deputy Chief Todd Shaver, officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:15 a.m., where upon arrival, located a deceased male in the north hallway of the apartment complex.
The deceased male was identified as 30-year-old Jorge Sanchez of Elgin who was found with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced on Aug. 2, that Jamar L. Robinson, 29, of the 800 block of North Lavernge Street in Chicago, was being charged with the offenses of first-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, considered a Class 3 felony, for the July 29 shooting of Sanchez.
Kane County prosecutors allege that “Robinson fired multiple shots from a handgun at Sanchez, killing him.”
Robinson had previously dated Foxview Apartment Complex resident Brianna Johnson. Sanchez resided in the apartment unit adjacent to Johnson’s.
Public court records indicate that Robinson had been previously charged with domestic battery and was ordered by the court to not have any contact with Johnson.
Robinson appeared in Kane County bond court on Aug. 1.
Kane County Judge Todd Tater set Robinson’s bail at $3 million, with 10% ($300,000) to apply for bond.
Mosser stated that Robinson’s next court appearance happened at 9:00 a.m. on Aug. 4 in Courtroom 311 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
A motion was filed to continue with a preliminary hearing set for Sep. 21 at 9 a.m.
Robinson is currently being detained at the Kane County Adult Justice Center in St. Charles.
