Huntley Speaks Out
QUESTION: What do you think about the US’s withdrawal from Afghanistan?

Donna Schlenker: “Withdrawal needed to happen. Sadly, the last administration negotiated with the Taliban direct and left the Afghans to negotiate their own deal. Biden was right to continue with the withdrawal but sadly it is being handled poorly. There should be zero debate that Afghans who assisted the US over the past 20 years should be brought here to safety. The evacuation should have been handled better. And if we had intelligence that their army was going to cave, we should have destroyed all equipment. Just super sad. ” | ![]() |

Darlene Trolliet: “I think it’s time that we left. We should not have been there that long as it is. Let them stand on their own. Our troops should not be fighting in a war and dying in a war that the trained and armed Afghans are not willing to fight for themselves.” | ![]() |

Joanne Hill: “We should not have pulled out the way we did. It needed to be more organized. The country has erupted into chaos and the Taliban has seized power. I am horrified at what will happen to the girls and women in that country. The war had to end. But it didn’t have to end in such chaos.” | ![]() |

Karen Lenahan: “I do think it was right decision to leave the country. We have been there too long. I do think that there needed to be a better plan, more organized approach to leaving the country. The chaos that has unfolded. Videos showed a group of Afghans hanging onto the plane just before take-off. It is not a good situation.” | ![]() |
