The driver who died in a Huntley car accident identified by McHenry County Coroner’s Office
HUNTLEY – Tomasz J. Wojt, 41, of Chicago was identified as the sole occupant of a 2007 GMC pickup truck that partially rolled into a shallow retention pond off the roadway of Charles Sass Parkway after striking a light pole on the morning of Sep. 14.
The Huntley Police Department released a report last week stating that Wojt was ejected from his vehicle and found deceased near the water.
On Sep. 20, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office announced via a press release, that preliminary findings of an autopsy showed Wojt’s cause of death was due to blunt force trauma.
A police investigation determined that Wojt was traveling westbound on Charles Sass Parkway near the curve when his vehicle managed to leave the roadway causing Wojt to then strike a light pole.
According to an obituary from Skaja Terrace Funeral Home located at 7812 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Niles, Wojt was a US Army veteran who was described as a beloved husband and father to his two children.
The obituary also states that he will be missed by family in both the U.S. and Poland.
Wojt’s funeral service took place on Sep. 18.
The McHenry County Coroner’s Office is continuing to work alongside the Huntley Police Department on investigating the accident.
