Huntley Area Lions Club to host all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast
HUNTLEY – Residents planning on attending Huntley’s Fall Fest may also want to think about bringing their appetites as the Huntley Area Lions Club will be hosting their annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast on Sep. 25 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Cosman Cultural Center cafeteria located at 12015 Mill Street.
Huntley Area Lions Club President Pam Palmer states that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the club was unable to host its breakfast event last year, but is looking forward to welcoming guests back this year.
“The Lions Clubs International motto is ‘We Serve.’ As the Club President, I am looking forward to that community feeling of fun during Fall Fest while ‘we serve’ up a great breakfast. Everyone is always in a good mood. Even after a heavy Saturday morning rain that happened during Fall Fest in 2019, the crowds poured in and had a great time,” said Palmer via email correspondence.
The breakfast will cost $8 per person but is free for children under 12 that are accompanied by a paid adult. The breakfast will include all-you-can-eat pancakes as well as sausages, apple sauce, and drinks.
For guests worried about there not being enough food to go around, Palmer says that the club always plans to the best of its abilities to ensure that food supplies don’t run out.
“The proceeds will go to fund the projects that we do in the community and beyond, including sight & hearing needs and many other worthy causes for those in need. 100% of what our club raises goes back out to such organizations as the Grafton Food Pantry, Home of the Sparrow, Shop with a Cop, Veterans Path to Hope, and many more,” Palmer said.
The Huntley Area Lions Club will also be providing take-out containers for individuals who want to have their breakfast on the go.
Palmer explained that due to the loss of funds caused by canceled events during the pandemic, the Huntley Area Lions Club has been selling crafts at their monthly booth at the Huntley Farmer’s Market and will be selling similar member-made crafts during the pancake breakfast.
“We will be featuring some fall crafts along with some other favorites. We will also have our Lion/Lioness Photo Op Board and a prize spinning wheel for the kiddos,” said Palmer.
Additionally, those who are entered in the Huntley Fall Fest 5K and Kids Dash will be receiving a voucher to eat for free at the Huntley Area Lions Club pancake breakfast event.
For those looking to learn more about volunteering opportunities or learn more in general about the Huntley Area Lions Club, Palmer said that there will be an informational table at the event.
