Algonquin man wanted on a felony arrest warrant in connection to two homicides arrested in Wisconsin
ALGONQUIN – Various news outlets have reported on a statement issued by the Algonquin Police Department in which they recounted that in the afternoon hours of Nov. 30, members of the police department responded to the 400 block of La Fox River Drive for a “Check for Well Being.”
The call was issued in response to the male and female residents who had not been heard from. After being unable to contact the residents, an investigation was initiated.
Algonquin Deputy Chief Ryan Markham announced that on Dec. 1, two deceased subjects matching the description of the male and female La Fox River Drive homeowners were located.
While the McHenry County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the cause of death or the identities of the two victims, the circumstances surrounding the deaths suggest that foul play was involved.
Various online individuals with close connections to the deceased Algonquin couple have come forward to identify Peter M. Almen and his wife Elviera “Ella,” as the homicide victims.
“At this time, this is believed to be an isolated incident and is suspected to be domestic violence-related. There does not appear to be any threat to the members of the general public,” said Markham.
A McHenry County arrest warrant was issued for Maxim Parnov, 36, for two counts of “Concealment of a Homicidal Death,” which are considered class 3 felonies.
On Dec. 2, Parnov was located at a residence in Salem, Wisconsin where he was taken into custody without incident by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department at 6:48 a.m.
According to Markham, Parnov is currently being held by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department and awaiting extradition to Illinois. Additional charges against Parnov are pending.
Sources say that Parnov is the female victim’s son, with neighbors reporting having heard Parnov and Almen—Parnov’s stepfather—fighting shortly before Almen and his wife were reported missing to the Algonquin Police Department.
The McHenry County Major Crimes Assistance Team is assisting the Algonquin Police Department with the investigation of this matter. The Algonquin Police Department urges anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them at 847-658-4531.
