Potential new shopping location in downtown Huntley sparks community interest

HUNTLEY – Lisa Armour, Huntley’s Deputy Village Manager, gave My Huntley News a preview of things to come to downtown Huntley.
Included in the Village’s 2022 Work Plan Action Items, presented at the January 20 Village Board meeting, were plans for a Shops on Main small business incubator just off Main Street in the First Congregational Church parking lot. The Village would lease the space from the church.

According to Armour, “the proposed ten building area will have retail shops that might offer seasonal merchandise.” She added that “the shops would have one-year leases and the proprietors might change from year to year.”

Mayor Hoeft commented that “the Church leadership is very interested in the project.” He added, “they aren’t looking for a windfall and want to be good neighbors.”

The plan calls for the shops to be open for the 2022 Christmas selling season.
