UPDATE: Two Elgin men identified as the suspects responsible for a Walgreens robbery in Cary
As previously reported in My Huntley News, the Cary Police Department was asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two male suspects that had broken into a Walgreens located at 500 W Northwest Highway in the early hours of Feb. 16.
Cary Police Deputy Chief Scott Naydenoff recently was able to release an update regarding the incident.
Naydenoff stated that on Feb. 19, investigators from the Cary Police Department were alerted of two individuals that were taken into custody by the Elgin Police Department who just so happened to match the description of the offenders involved in the Walgreens robbery.
The two suspects had been arrested in Elgin for committing similar crimes in that jurisdiction.
Upon further investigation, the offenders were positively identified and connected to the Cary Feb. 16 incident.
On Feb. 22, investigators from the Cary Police Department, in consultation with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, obtained arrest warrants for 19-year-old Moises Villa and 18-year-old Mauricio Ramos, both of the 1600 block of Mulberry Lane in Elgin.
Villa and Ramos were each charged with one count of Burglary, a Class 2 felony; one count of Theft, a Class 3 felony; and one count of Criminal Damage to Property, a Class 4 felony.
As of Feb. 24, Ramos has been confined to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility in Woodstock on a $4,000 bond.
