Lake in the Hills woman convicted of two counts of aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol
MCHENRY COUNTY – McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally announced that on March 3, Tammy J. Newsome, 58, of Lake in the Hills was convicted of two counts of “Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol,” a Class X felony, and one count of “Aggravated Driving While License is Revoked (Subsequent Offense),” a Class 4 felony.
An arrest warrant for Newsome was granted by a grand jury to the Lake in the Hills Police Department back in June 2018, according to McHenry County court records.
Newsome was originally charged with seven total felonies but was able to get some of those charges dropped.
Following a jury trial before McHenry County Circuit Court Judge Robert Wilbrandt, it was ruled that Newsome’s bond would be revoked.
Newsome is currently being incarcerated at the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility in Woodstock where she has been confined since Oct. 19, 2021.
Kenneally states that Newsome is scheduled to be sentenced on March 31.
This isn’t Newsome’s first run-in with the law as she had previously been sentenced to serve three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after being found guilty of a Class 2 felony for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol in Crystal Lake back in 2014.
Newsome also has to face an additional Class 4 felony charge and a Class A misdemeanor charge, which were filed by the Village of Spring Grove back in 2019 for offenses similar to the ones she committed in Lake in the Hills.
