
Senior-led Red Raiders tied most wins
HUNTLEY – A senior-led Huntley boys’ basketball team provided several highlights for fans this winter.
Huntley finished with a 27-6 record, the third team to achieve that win total, following the 2001-2002
team and the 2019-2020 squads.
“We won the Johnsburg Thanksgiving Tournament and won the DeKalb Holiday Classic for the first
time in school history,” Huntley coach Will Benson said.
Benson commented about the contributions of the eight seniors.
Aiden Wieczorekm senior, 6-foot, 3-guard. “He was voted MVP of the DeKalb Holiday Classic. He led us in first in points per game, was second in rebounds, and first in assists, He also broke the single season record for most assists with 110.”
Ben Ahmer, 6-1 senor guard. “He was named All-Fox Valley Conference and was voted MVP of the Johnsburg Thanksgiving Tournament. He was second in points per game and made three-pointers. He also broke the single season record for most assists with 110.”
Adam Guzzaro, 6-2 senior guard-forward. “He was named All-Fox Valley Conference. He was third in points per game and led the entire area in rebounds. He also broke the single season record for rebounds with 310, averaging 10 per game,”
Nate Ary, 6-1 senior guard. “He was a two-year starter and great penetrator on offense and a terrific individual and team defensive player.”
Chet Andrews, 6-5 senior forward. “He started on and off the last two years. He was a great rebounder, screener and overall team player. No one plays harder than Chet.”
John Kramer, 6-0 senior guard. “He was our sixth man most of the season. He started most games the second half of the season. He was a great defender and rebounder and played his role extremely well.”
Seniors Tony Campana, a 5-10 guard and Danny Sheedy, 6-4 guard forward, “were great senior leaders in practice, in the locker room and on the bench during games,” Benson said.
The coach also commented on two juniors.
Noah Only, a 6-3 guard forward, “He started most of the games the second half of the year. He did a nice job defensively and rebounding and improved his offensive game throughout the year.
Ian Ravagnie, a 6-4 guard. “Ian played a lot off the bench and has always been a good shooter. He really improved defensively this year.”
Huntley beat McHenry then lost to Rockford East at the Class 3A Jacobs regional.
