Village of Lake in the Hills names new assistant village administrator
LAKE IN THE HILLS — Village officials announced back in January that Fred Mullard would be leaving his role as the village administrator on March 11.
Shannon Andrews, who previously served as the assistant village administrator for Lake in the Hills, has since been appointed by the Village Board to take over Mullard’s position, leaving a vacancy for the assistant village administrator position.
On March 16, Andrews announced that Ashley Eccles, the former communications coordinator for the Lake in the Hills Police Department, had been chosen as the new assistant village administrator.
Eccles is expected to begin her new role on March 28. She has over seven years of experience in municipal government functions, with Eccles having served in her prior position within the village since January 2018.
“I am excited to welcome Ashley to the assistant village administrator position,” said Andrews. “I’m confident that Ashley’s knowledge, skills, and professionalism will be a strong addition to the village’s management team.”
As the communications coordinator, Eccles managed the police department’s Community Relations Division and acted as the village’s public information officer (PIO).
She is the current accreditation supervisor for the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP) and ensured that the police department was compliant with all standards, policies, and procedures.
“I am thrilled to have an opportunity to join the leadership team in this new role,” said Eccles. “Fostering positive community relations has been at the heart of my work here. I’m pleased to continue to serve the Lake in the Hills community and look forward to helping build a strong future for the village.”
Eccles has also been responsible for organizing community-based special events and community relations programs for the police department.
Programs she has managed include National Night Out, Ridin’ Right, Safety Camp, Trick-or-Treat at Safety Town, the Teen Safety Series, the Women’s Safety Series, Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training, and more.
Prior to her employment in Lake in the Hills, Eccles served the Village of Hawthorn Woods. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University and a graduate certificate in Public Sector Human Resources Management.
