HHS boys fare well at Rolling Meadows
HUNTLEY – Freshmen through seniors contributed as Huntley boys’ track-and-field team won the combined varsity and freshman-sophomore title at the Rolling Meadows Invite April 29. HHS was victorious at the frosh-soph level and the varsity placed third.
“We had several great individual performances, especially at the freshmen-sophomore level which helped us to win that level and the combined championship,” HHS head coach Chris Maxedon said. “Talon Sargent was big for us as he was part of three winning events, the 100-meter run; the 200 and 4×400-meter relays and finished second in the 400-meter run. Jack Cruele was second in the discus and Tommy Nitz was second in the 800-meter run while Logan Borzych was second in the 110-meter high hurdles.”
HHS’s boys track-and-field seniors capped off their Red Raider home meet careers with a triangular against Cary-Grove and Jacobs May 2. Senior Chase Porsche, a distance runner, was named Athlete-of-the-Meet.
“It was a very special night for the 16 seniors because it was their last home meet and they have been through a lot, missing a season (due to COVID-19),” the coach said.
HHS was at the Lockport Meet May 6 to prepare forĀ the Fox Valley Conference Meet May 13 at Crystal Lake Central and next is the HHS hosted sectional meet May 18.
