Huntley girls lacrosse reaches 10 wins
HUNTLEY – The Huntley girls lacrosse team secured a 10-win season with a 14-9 victory over Geneva on senior day May 4.
The Red Raiders were 10-3, 4-1 Fox Valley Conference following the non-league win.
“The senior group is the biggest senior group that we have had so far,” coach Joe Domka said. “The team camaraderie is something I have never seen in my last five years. The group of girls are the definition of a team sticking together through everything.”
Seniors Kyleigh Higgins, a Cathrage College (Kenosha, Wis.) recruit and Emma Farr lead the offense, the coach said while senior Ally Nentz and Lindsay Hunter, and Tabby Payne “are the backbone of the defense.”
Domka praised the team’s play against Geneva at HHS.
“Geneva is one of the tougher teams we have played this year,” he commented. “They always seem to continue fighting, no matter what and that shows in their determination.”
The Red Raiders fell to Mequa Valley 19-13 in non-conference play May 6.
The Red Raiders’ season goal is “to win playoff games,” the coach said at preseason and the team will be part of the Hoffman Estates Sectional.
