
Huntley 9 gains 19th victory
HUNTLEY – The eighth-ranked Huntley baseball team stayed in the Fox Valley Conference lead and reached a 19-4 record. The Red Raiders downed
Hampshire, 11-1, May 5 and Dundee-Crown, 7-4, May 7, for a 12-2 league record.
Malachi Paplanus was the winning pitcher against Hampshire as he fanned 10 batters, walked one in a six-hit performance.
“We received an excellent pitching performance from Paplanus in the Hampshire game,” HHS coach Andy Jakubowski said. “Brayden Bakes and Joey Garlin set the tone for the offense with five hits combined and Ryan Quinlan hit a home run.”
Three Huntley pitchers, starter Adam Guazzo and relievers Derek Huber and Parker Schuring kept Dundee-Crown at bay in the 7-4 win.
“Guazzo started and went four innings to get the win and Schuring picked up his first save of the season to seal the win,” Jakubowski said. “Bakes hit a home run and went 2 for 4 as well as Garlin to pace the offense. Lucas Goldstein went 3 for 3 with two RBIs.”
Huntley’s latest rankings were eighth in Class 4A, 10th in Illinois and ninth in Chicago area, according to MaxPreps.
