
Make it official: HHS wins FVC softball crown
HUNTLEY – Team and individual accomplishments keep coming as Huntley’s softball squad earned another Fox Valley Conference championship with a sweep of Hampshire. HHS prevailed 3-0 May 9 and wrapped up the FVC title with a 10-0 win May 10.
The wins gave the Red Raiders a 23-5 overall mark and a perfect 15-0 in FVC games with three league battles remaining. Huntley was 18-0 in winning the FVC in 2021.
HHS junior Katie Mitchell notched her 39th stolen base. Clara Hudgens was 2 for 3 with two runs scored; Madison Smith had a two RBI game; Jori Heard had one hit and an RBI in the 10-0 win.
Heard fanned 19 Whip-Purs in the 3-0 victory and allowed two hits. Reese Hunkins and Madison Smith led the offense with two hits each.
Heard led the team at the plate with a .465 batting average, .520 on-base percentage. She held a 0.48 ERA.
