Girls lacrosse set for strong finish
HUNTLEY – A 16-member senior class is looking to lead the Huntley girls lacrosse team to a solid end to the regular season and post-season success. HHS gained an 11-4 record with a 16-4 win over Rosary May 14.
For one of the Class of 2022 girls lacrosse members, the post-season will not be the end of her lacrosse career, Kyleigh Higgins has selected Cathrage College in Kenosha.
“They’re looking at me to play midfield there,” Higgins said. “The Cathrage College coach, John Sung, is amazing in his knowledge,”
Higgins and other veteran team members got started in the sport mostly in middle school. They follow
Northwestern University lacrosse, which has won two NCAA tournament matches this season, like baseball players would the Cubs or White Sox.
“They’re really crisp and clean with their passes which are spot-on,” Higgins said.
HHS Joe Domka is pleased with the way the team is playing prior to the May 23 clash against Barrington at the Hoffman Estates sectional.
“I would say Higgins and Emma Farr are our leaders on offense and Ally Wentz and Lindsay Hunter (seniors) are leaders on the defensive side. The senior group is the biggest senior group that we have had so far. The team camaraderie is something I have never seen in my last five years. The group of seniors give the definition of a team and sticking together on everything.”
