D158 names new Heineman Middle School principal for the 2022-23 school year

Stephanie Mitchell will serve as the new principal of D158’s Heineman Middle School for the 2022-23 school year
HUNTLEY — After a lengthy search process, representatives of Huntley Community School District 158 (D158) have finally approved Stephanie Mitchell to serve as the new principal of Heineman Middle School (725 Dr. John Burkey Drive, Algonquin), effective at the start of the 2022-23 school year.
According to the district, the search process included a field of many qualified candidates, but it was ultimately Mitchell who was recommended to D158’s Board of Education.
The board approved hiring Mitchell at the May 19 Board of Education meeting.
“Mitchell comes to Huntley 158 with a wide range of experience in the classroom and in leadership positions during her career in education,” said Alex LeMoine, director of communications and public relations for the district. “Most recently, she has spent two years as the principal of John T. Magee Middle School in Round Lake Area School District 116. In this position, she facilitated student growth in math and reading, developed a hybrid learning model during the 2020-21 school year, and also engaged the school community in a principal round table and bi-monthly parent forums to give all stakeholders the opportunity to discuss and improve school climate.”
While Mitchell’s experience as a principal has prepared her to take up the position at Heineman Middle School, she also has a rich educational background as an administrator and classroom teacher.
Mitchell previously spent three years as the assistant principal of Curriculum and Instruction at John T. Magee Middle School before being promoted to principal of the school.
“This role gave her experience implementing and overseeing curriculum, providing meaningful professional learning opportunities for her staff, and monitoring student success,” added LeMoine in a press release statement.
Additionally, Mitchell has over 10 years of classroom experience and has worked directly with students as an elementary and middle school teacher in Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47, and as a math interventionist in Community Unit School District 50.
“Mrs. Mitchell possesses the experience, passion, and talent which will set her up for success in Huntley 158,” said D158 Superintendent Scott Rowe. “Due to the hard work and dedication of our staff and members of this search committee, I believe we have found a candidate that will highlight and elevate the amazing things already being achieved at Heineman Middle School.”
Heineman’s current principal, Brian Faulkner, will collaborate with Mitchell over the remainder of the school year to ensure a smooth and positive transition when the district welcomes students for the start of the 2022-23 school year.
