Huntley Village board discusses lockboxes, new construction
HUNTLEY – The June 23 meeting of the Huntley Village Board began with Mayor Hoeft recognizing Huntley High School’s Alexandria Johnson for winning the IHSA State Championship in the Class 3A Long Jump and Triple Jump for the second time. Also receiving recognition was the Huntley High School Journalism Team for winning the IHSA State Championship for the second year in a row.
Among the items approved for payment was $47,978 in first quarter Sales Tax rebates to Safeway, Inc. for the Jewel/Osco stores. Another payment of $9,975 was approved for mosquito management.
NEW REMITTANCE LOCKBOX AGREEMENT
The board solicited proposals from three local banks for new lockbox and remittance processing services. US Bank had been the bank of record for processing receipts. However, the US Bank’s performance has become less than satisfactory.
BMO Harris and First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) responded to the request. The board awarded the contract to BMO Harris even though the bid was more than $7,000 higher than the FNBO. The existing relationship with BMO and a higher level of service were among the reasons noted for selecting BMO.
The village review of the bid documents stated “The Village will pay an additional $11,550 annually for this (BMO) enhanced level of service as compared to the US Bank arrangement. This will eliminate the delayed processing issues currently being dealt with at US Bank and will give residents enhanced delivery of water bill payments.”
NEW COLUMBARIUM
The columbarium in the Huntley Cemetery is nearing capacity with only 11 single and four doubles niches remaining. The board accepted a quote from Elgin Granite Works, the provider of the original columbarium, in the amount of $50,830 for a second columbarium on the west side of Dean Street.
Downtown Parking Plan Approved
Charles Nordman, Director of Development Services, presented the following proposal, “The proposed Woodstock Street parking lot and 1st Street on‐street parking improvements will provide 48 additional parking spaces in the downtown area. The Woodstock Street parking lot will provide 40 spaces and eight spaces will be added on the north side of 1st Street. The new parking lot is proposed north of the former Fire Station site and will extend to the parcel to the east (11011 Woodstock Street), which fronts Woodstock Street.”
He added that, “The FY22 Budget includes $750,000 for the Woodstock Street Parking Lot and $340,000 for the additional on‐street parking.”
The board approved the Site Plan, landscaping, and Lighting for the Woodstock Street Parking Lot and 1st Street On‐Street Parking Improvements.
NEW 45,840 SQUARE FOOT BUILDING IN HUNTLEY CORPORATE PARK
Reiche Construction submitted a plan for conceptual review of the construction of a 45,840 square foot building south of Dhamer Drive and west of Henning Road in the Huntley Corporate Park. This building is not expected to be completed until 2024.
According to Nordman, “Reiche is proposing the construction of a Logistics, Freight, and Trucking Operations Facility on Lots 18 and 19 of the Huntley Corporate Park Phase I. The subject property fronts to Interstate 90 and is located west of Henning Road and south of the cul‐du‐sac that concludes FYH Drive. Reiche proposes to consolidate the lots to form one ±10.97‐acre site.”
Adam Reiche indicated that “the building is intended to be a maintenance facility with external trailer parking.” He continued, “limited truck activity is expected since it will be in and out type of maintenance operation.”
Nordman added, “Reiche has stated that the proposed building would be owned by AZE Inc., the trucking company’s third and possibly last investment property in the Corporate Park.”
As a conceptual review the board was not required to vote on the proposal. However, the board comments to the builder were all very positive.
