
Crystal Lake Police Department investigates an SUV that struck a resident while in his home
CRYSTAL LAKE — On Wednesday, July 27, at approximately 7:03 p.m., Crystal Lake Police officers responded to the 100 block of Heather Drive, with assistance from the Crystal Lake Fire Department for the report of a single vehicle that crashed into a residence, resulting in injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV was heading eastbound on Ballard Road when for unknown reasons the vehicle continued through the intersection of Briarwood Road, stated local authorities on July 28.
The SUV then proceeded to leave the roadway and subsequently struck a detached garage and residence in the 100 block of Heather Drive.
Emergency personnel reported that the adult male driver of the vehicle had to be extricated from his car. The driver was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries.
The adult male resident that was present at his house at the time the accident occurred, also sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by the SUV.
That resident was also flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center to receive treatment for the injuries he sustained.
The Crystal Lake Police Department was forced to close a portion of Briarwood Road and Ballard Road for a brief amount of time while emergency crews worked on the scene of the accident.
Law enforcement personnel from the Crystal Lake Accident Investigation Team are continuing to investigate the incident.
