Kane County Sheriff’s Office responds to increase in fatal traffic accidents
KANE COUNTY — Over the past week, Kane County has observed an increase in the number of fatalities and serious injuries relating to traffic accidents, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
Four separate crashes have resulted in the loss of three lives, which has prompted Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain and his staff to bring awareness to this sensitive topic as well as to assist the public by providing critical steps to help reverse the trend of serious accidents.
Hain states that the goal to save lives on Kane County roadways has never strayed away from him, also adding that he will continue to work to protect residents from being involved in further serious traffic accidents.
“These vehicle crashes have occurred in multiple areas of the county in the past ten days. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office works to identify the geographical areas most impacted by these incidents and will continue to provide additional traffic enforcement and other awareness tactics in hopes of decreasing the crashes on Kane County roadways,” said Hain.
An example of the life-saving tactics that have been utilized involved Hain and his deputies making at least 1,535 traffic stops in the last three months alone.
Out of those stops, 604 of them resulted in a citation being issued. 931 of those stops resulted in a written warning.
However, despite Hain’s best efforts, he maintains that he and his staff can’t keep Kane County roadways safe by themselves, and requests the public’s aid in providing safer travel in the area as they drive to and from their destinations.
“We urge drivers of all ages to remember that when they get behind the wheel or in the vehicle with a friend, co-worker, or a family member, to engage in safe practices,” said Hain. “This includes not driving impaired, proper child safety restraints, proper seat belting, along with honoring speed limits throughout the county.”
The devastation not only within the past 10 days but also throughout the years has caused tremendous heartbreak for responding deputies, explained Hain.
Hain is insistent that the Kane County Sheriff’s Office will continue its efforts to enhance its partnerships with other agencies and the community in their campaign for safer roadways.
