
Strong tourney, dual match wins pace netters
HUNTLEY – The Huntley girls tennis team was runner-up at the Jacobs Invite, with a portion of the meet held at HHS courts Aug. 27.
HHS notched two dual match wins for a 3-1 dual record as they beat St. Charles North and Crystal Lake Central.
Huntley seniors Emily Chong and sophomore Carlie Weishaar won their second doubles bracket at the Jacobs 16 tournament.
Fifth-place finishes were from freshman Ella Doughty at first singles; Ari Patel at second singles; the first doubles team of Kate Burkey and Elaina Hibbeler.
“The second doubles team winning their bracket was exciting,” HHS coach Barry Wells said. “Everyone played well.”
St. Charles North
The Red Raiders downed the North Stars, 5-3, Aug. 30 in non-conference action. HHS won three doubles matches, two by tiebreaks.
Emily Chong and Delaney Stock were victorious at No. 2 doubles while Carle Weishaar and Nora Stevenson won at No. 3 doubles. Ashley Phommasack and Ellie Pauwels wrapped up doubles wins at No. 4.
Triumphs in singles came from Kacie Scerbicke at third singles and Jill Coleman at fourth singles.
Crystal Lake Central
The Red Raiders posted a 7-0 shutout win over the Tigers in FVC play Sept. 1 in their conference opener.
