Booster Club helpers eager to help HHS
HUNTLEY – With a huge crowd expected for the home football opener, Huntley Booster Club members reported early Friday afternoon. Gold-clad HHS students could take their seats as early as 4:15 p.m. for the games against McHenry.
Shannon Corso is the 2022-23 HHS Booster Club president, while Melanie Ottaviano serves as secretary, and Jay Baedke runs the concession stand. Carrie Padget is vice president while Kathy Heitkemper serves as treasurer. Staffing the spirit wear stand are Heather Carter, Anna Winger and Karen Gajewski.
The Huntley High School Booster Club meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the high school commons.
“We get organized before the previous school year ends,” Coroso said.
The work includes talking to vendors about spirt wear and ordering food for coming games as well as setting up Friday night work shifts.
“The teams come to us with their requests,” Coroso said. “This year projects were a new mat for the wrestling team to replace an old one and a new blocking sled for the football team.”
“We work with all the teams,” Ottaviano said.
One future project could be adding safety nets between the baseball and softball fields.
The HHS Booster Club’s efforts are appreciated by school officials.
“We very much appreciate the HHS Booster Club’s efforts to support our student-athletes,” Huntley High School Athletic Director Glen Wilson said. “Their dedication and volunteerism is amazing. In recent times our Booster Club has supported some very large projects that support our students with a new wrestling mat and purchase of new weight room equipment.”
