
Elgin Police Department seeks the public’s help to identify potential kidnapper
ELGIN — On Sept. 29, at approximately 9:43 a.m., Elgin Police officers were dispatched to the area of S. Channing Street and Fulton Street for a report of a male Hispanic subject that was following a 17-year-old female student in his vehicle.
Preliminary information gathered from responding officers state that a Hispanic male was making attempts to speak with the young female student.
The student ignored the suspect and continued to walk away from his vehicle.
At some point, the male suspect exited his vehicle and grabbed the female student’s arm. The student was able to pull away from the suspect and immediately reported the incident. The student was not injured during the encounter.
The Elgin Police Department describes the suspect as being a Hispanic male who is approximately 40 years of age and about 5’8 with black hair.
He was last seen wearing a dark sweater and blue jeans.
The suspect left the area in a silver Honda Odyssey which was last seen traveling eastbound on Division Street from Gifford Street.
Authorities notified Elgin Area School District U46 officials of the incident. Officers and detectives stayed in the area to continue their investigation efforts.
