Village of East Dundee recognizes local business owner for his efforts in bettering the community
EAST DUNDEE—The Village of East Dundee recently recognized resident Jeff Provisor as what trustees called a “shining example of a true citizen who puts others first and treats everyone with respect.”
Provisor currently runs the business Main Street Bicycles, located at 39 East Main Street in historic Old Town Carpentersville.

Jeff Provisor was recognized by the Village of East Dundee for his community improvement efforts.
Main Street Bicycles first opened up shop in 2004 with the mission of being one of the best full-service bike shops around, while supporting the bicycle community in as many ways possible, according to the shop’s website.
As well as helping to empower the biking community, Provisor also employs several area residents.
Additionally, he and his wife, Jen, are active volunteers who tirelessly work towards making the area safer, more caring, and a wonderful place to live stated East Dundee Trustee Andy Sauder.
Among some of the things Provisor is known for include volunteering and even having served as president of a local Rotary Club for over 10 years to help raise money for various charitable efforts in the area.
He has also been responsible for organizing and leading the Raceway Woods 5K race for the past several years to raise funds to buy winter coats for children in need.
Provisor has organized several local cyclocross races in which he donates the proceeds collected from those to causes that benefit kids in the area.
Other notable acts by Provisor see him donating expensive bikes each year to the Chicago Area Mountain Bikers (CAMBr) organization, which in turn helps him raise money to provide free mountain bike trails at Raceway Woods and Andres Park that are used by residents in the area.
In addition, residents have spotted Provisor picking up trash along Route 31 and the Fox River for various clean-up efforts over the years.
Trustee Sauder noted that Provisor has donated a little over $1,000 in bike shop tools to the Boys and Girls Club’s Impact Center where high school kids learn basic mechanical skills by working on bikes.
Provisor even paid one of his employees to help in getting the program started at the center.
For bikers in the area, they’ll be happy to learn that Provisor paid for a bike fixing station at a local bike shop for all visitors of Andres Park to use for free.
As for children in need in the area, besides his fundraising efforts, Provisor has also been known to gift bikes to kids who frequent the local trails and needed a new bike.
He’s even given free bike repair training to area children that could not afford to pay for repairs to their bikes, which has inspired some kids to get jobs as repair technicians later on in life.
“If you ask anyone who has worked for Jeff (Provisor) at Main Street Bicycles, you will hear stories of someone who cares more about his employees and customers than profits,” said Sauder on his Facebook page. “He inspires, teaches, cares, and acts to benefit others before himself. The Village of East Dundee considers itself very fortunate to have Jeff and Jen Provisor as neighbors with such a big heart for their community.”
