
MCDH to sponsor residential tire recycling event
McHENRY COUNTY — The McHenry County Department of Health is sponsoring a free tire recycling event for pre-registered McHenry County residents on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Registered participants who are McHenry County residents may drop off passenger size and light truck size tires from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 22 at the McHenry County Division of Transportation, 16111 Nelson Road in Woodstock. The tires will be recycled by Liberty Tire Recycling.
The following event restrictions apply:
- Only McHenry County residents are eligible.
- A maximum of 25 tires per household will be accepted.
- Online pre-registration is required. Those without internet access can register by calling (815) 334-4585.
- Participants will need to provide the number of tires to be dropped off when registering.
- Tires must be removed from the metal rim and free of water, mud and other debris.
- Only passenger and light truck and SUV sized tires will be accepted. Tires not accepted include industrial heavy equipment, floatation, semi-truck, farm equipment or tires from companies and commercial business.
- No other types of recyclable materials or waste will be collected during the Oct. 22 event.
Those who are unable to make the event but need to recycle tires are encouraged to look for locations that accept tires in the 2022 McHenry County Green Guide.
Additionally, MCDH is hosting its final single-day residential recycling event of 2022 from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the McHenry County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road in Woodstock. McHenry County residents are encouraged to bring acceptable electronics, sensitive documents for shredding, batteries and more to this event.
