Elgin restaurant’s sign gets taken out by semi-truck; no injuries reported
ELGIN — On Jan. 3, several residents reported a high presence of police and emergency personnel at Elgin-based breakfast and family style restaurant Alexander’s Café located at 1725 N State Street.
Witnesses in the area stated that traffic lights on Tollgate Road and Route 31 were not functioning for some time, however, the most obvious damage involved the restaurant’s sign.
According to individuals on the scene, a semi-truck was responsible for striking the sign, although there have been no updates as to how the accident occurred.
Despite the extensive damage left behind by the accident, it appeared no one was injured as stated by the owners of Alexander’s Café on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
“No, we don’t have a new drive-thru. Thankfully no one was hurt. We are open!”
