Woodstock man arrested in Crystal Lake on several drug charges
CRYSTAL LAKE — Officers from the Crystal Lake Police Department announced that on Jan. 5, at approximately 3:24 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the area of Northwest Highway and Exchange Drive.
During the traffic stop, police canine Zeus alerted officers to the odor of narcotics being present within the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded numerous items of drug paraphernalia, which also resulted in a controlled substance being seized. The controlled substance was later field tested, where it was determined that there was a presumptive presence of cocaine.
The Crystal Lake Police Department reported that the traffic stop resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Daniel P. Perry, of 155 E. Todd Avenue in Woodstock. Perry was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
Further information obtained during Perry’s arrest led Crystal Lake Police Investigators to get a search warrant for a room Perry occupied at the Super 8 Motel located at 577 Crystal Point Road in Crystal Lake. Perry had been staying at the motel before his initial traffic stop and arrest.
At approximately 7 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at Perry’s motel room, which resulted in uncovering more controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, and a handgun without a serial number.
Having reviewed the facts of the case, the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Perry with the following offenses:
Attempting to manufacture/deliver a controlled substance-cocaine-15 but less than 100 grams, a Class X felony; unlawful possession of a controlled substance-cocaine-15 but less than 100 grams, a Class 1 felony, two counts of unlawful use or possession of weapons or ammunition by a convicted felon, a Class 3 felony; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
Perry is currently confined at the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock. His bond is set at $10,000. His case is scheduled to be heard in court on Jan. 9 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 302 of the McHenry County Courthouse.
