Red Raiders dance teams compete at Fox Valley Conference
HUNTLEY — Huntley High School’s varsity and junior varsity dance teams competed at the Fox Valley Conference dance meet Jan. 10 at Dundee-Crown. The varsity earned second place while the JV took third. The varsity performed the hip-hop routine.
The Red Raiders finished with a score of 82.97 in the varsity competition, second to champ Jacobs’ 84 points.
HHS head coach Alex Reyes-Smith said the season has been a success. “We finished second at two events and fifth at our own invite,” she said. “We’re looking forward to hopefully qualifying for state again. I was happy with the routine and choreography.”
Molly Miguelon is the veteran Red Raider dance team member. “I’ve been dancing for 16 years and hope to do so in college,” she said.
HHS next is at the IHSA competitive dance sectional Jan. 21. The varsity qualified for state last year. The IHSA Competitive Dance State Meet is Jan. 27 and 28 at Bloomington Grossinger Motor Sports Arena.
