
Boys bowling seniors take bow in win
HUNTLEY — A quartet of Huntley Class of 2023 members competed at Bowl-Hi Lanes for the last time in a dual match Jan. 11. They helped lead the team to a victory over St. Charles North.
Seniors Josh Waters, Caleb Vergona, Jackson Swanson and Trenton Regaldo were thanked for their commitment before the match. HHS, 11-3 in duals, prevailed over the North Stars, 3,561 to 2,959 pins.
“It was weird, bowling here for the last time,” Waters said. “We hope to bowl well at regional, sectional and qualify for state. I plan on bowling in college.”
“A big win for Huntley boys bowling for senior night,” Huntley head coach Jacob Wagner said. “All the boys are firing on all cylinders going into our regional at Mardis Gras Lanes in DeKalb.”
The IHSA regional meet is Jan. 14. The IHSA sectional round for
team and individual qualifiers is Jan. 21 at Rockford Guilford.
Scores against the visiting North Stars were: Matt Fishman, who recorded a 279 game, 679; Austin Tenglin contributed a 640 series; Vergona added a 598 series; Swanson a 521 and Regaldo’s 530 rounded out the efforts.
HHS at Belvidere tourney
The Red Raiders concluded the Belvidere tournament with an eighth-place finish Jan. 6 at Cherry Bowl Lanes. Top finishers for Huntley were Vergona, 17th with a 1,246 final score; Humphrey ended
33rd at 1,191 pins and Waters was 33rd, 1,167.
“There were some really good teams there and we stuck with them,” Wagner said.
