Fishman gained pointers from state qualifiers
HUNTLEY — Huntley bowler Matt Fishman led the Red Raiders to a regular-season ending win over St. Charles North Jan. 11 as and had the top score at the Belvidere tournament. He answered survey questions for My Huntley News
Describe your start in bowling, what age and youth leagues.
Matt Fishman: “I started bowling mainly at the age of 10 because my grandpa and dad have bowled for their whole lives. I wasn’t good, I just mainly did it with friends to have fun. That wound up leading to one of the best decisions of my life.”
Any mentors from last year’s team who helped you?
Fishman: “AJ Debello, Zummo, and Heyes Porsche helped me because I was really struggling and seeing them always being at the top of their scores at practice and meets really made me want to do better the next year and improve a ton in the off season.”
What has been your biggest challenges in bowling?
Fishman: “My biggest challenge was and still is adapting to different environments. I have gotten better at getting spares and knowing what to do on different splits.”
Personal, team goals?
Fishman: “My personal goal is to try to be the best teammate and best player I can be and know I can be. My main goal this year and the next two years to come is to go to state all three years.”
