Residents shocked after Dairy Mart owners arrested on drug, firearms, child pornography and endangerment charges
CRYSTAL LAKE—As reported in various news outlets including the Lake and McHenry County Scanner, the current owners of the Dairy Mart in Huntley, located at 10706 N IL-47, have recently been released from custody after posting bond.
According to authorities, 38-year-old Christopher S. Hopp of Crystal Lake was charged with two counts of production of child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of unauthorized video recording, possession with intent to deliver psilocybin, unlawful possession of psilocybin, four counts of possession of a firearm with a revoked Firearm Owners Identification (FOID), possession of ammunition without a FOID, and two counts of child endangerment.
Dairy Mart co-owner Corinne E. Breskovich, 42, also of Crystal Lake was taken into custody on charges of child endangerment, possession of a firearm without a FOID, possession of ammunition without a FOID, possession with intent to deliver psilocybin, and unlawful possession of psilocybin.
The couple was arrested after investigators obtained a search warrant on Jan. 26 for their residence located in the 800 block of Wedgewood Drive.
Authorities discovered hallucinogenic inducing mushrooms being grown in the basement of the suspects’ home as well as psilocybin mushroom seeds, which amounted to 236 grams recovered from the scene.
Additionally, it is alleged that Hopp created child pornography by recording a juvenile female on multiple occasions while she was getting undressed in a bathroom and bedroom, without her knowledge.
Hopp and Breskovich, who own Windy City Landholdings LLC, purchased Dairy Mart from previous owner Steve Grechis and his family back in October after Grechis announced his retirement.
Grechis had owned Dairy Mart since 1985 and used to live in a house on Woodstock Street directly behind the business before moving to the City of Woodstock.
He began working at Dairy Mart when he was only 14 years old and a student at Huntley High School. Grechis was described by employees as a great boss, which makes the news surrounding the current Dairy Mart owners so hard for locals to wrap their heads around.
Hopp’s bail was set at $400,000, with him only needing to post 10% ($40,000) to apply for bond.
Breskovich’s bail was set at $150,000. She posted the 10% ($15,000) to apply for bond.
