
Multiple life-threatening injuries reported at crash
KANE COUNTY — Five teenagers were transported to hospitals after a one-vehicle crash in the at abut 3 a.m. of Feb. 11, Kane County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release. The accident took place on Dietrich Road in unincorporated Hampshire Township.
Kane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the site of the accident which was west of Brier Hill Road. Initial investigation indicated a 2019 Honda HR-V was traveling east on Dietrich Road at a high rate of speed when for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and struck a tree on the north side of the roadway, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office press release.
There were five juveniles in the car. All were listed as suffering life-threatening injuries. Authorities did not immediately release names of the victims due to all as minors.
According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office release:
The 16 year female driver of the Honda was airlifted by LifeNet Helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge;
A 15 year old passenger was initially transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge;
A 15 year old female passenger was initially transported to Northwestern Huntley Hospital and then airlifted to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago;
A third 15 year-old passenger was first transported to Sherman Hospital and then Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and
A 16 year old passenger was transported to Sherman Hospital and then taken to Advocate General Hospital.
Sheriff’s detectives and members of the Kane County Drone Team are continuing the investigation into the crash. No citations have been issued.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Huntley EMS and Huntley Fire Protection District; LifeNet; Hampshire Police Department and the Kane County Office of Emergency Management.
