
Ozzauto, Campanellis leads girls hoops honors
HUNTLEY — Several Huntley girls basketball players received All-Fox Valley Conference and state-wide honors.
Seniors Jessie Ozzauto and Sammi Campanelli and sophomore Anna Campanelli gained first-team All-FVC as voted by the league’s head coaches.
Ozzauto, who reached 1,000 career points for the Red Raiders, also was honored by the Associated Press Honorable Mention All-State and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Honorable Mention All-State.
Sammi Campanelli was named IBCA Honorable Mention All-State. Ozzauto is committed to play at Leigh University in 2023-24 and Sammi Campanelli has selected Lewis University.
The Red Raiders concluded the season with a 28-5 record, and were unbeaten FVC Champions, 18-0. The total victories were the second most in HHS girls basketball history. Head coach Steve Raethz reached 400 career wins.
Statistics leaders
Ozzauto led with 16.2 points per game; 27 minutes per game; 6.8 rebounds per contest; 2.9 assists and 2.6 steals.
Sammi Campanelli was best in free-throw percentage, 72.3 %. Anna Campanelli was the best field goal shooter from two-point range, 47.3 % and sophomore Ava McFadden led in three-point shots, 38.7 %.
Senior Ashlyn Horton led in blocked shots, 0.9 per game.
HHS averaged 52.4 points per game, compared to 37.5 for the opposition. They had an 11-1 home record and 7-4 in neutral court games.
