
‘Don’t be fooled’ 5K backs Special Olympics
HUNTLEY — On Saturday, April 1, the Huntley Police Department will host its second annual “Don’t Be Fooled by a Disability” 5K to benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. Registration for the 5K will start at 7:45 a.m., followed by a Torch Lighting Ceremony at 8:50 a.m. and the run at 9 a.m.
The 5K event’s route will be start at Coral Street, going north on Church Street; east on Algonquin Road; south on Haligus Road; west on Main Street back to the Huntley Town Square.
Special Olympics Athletes will award runners at the finish line with a “foolish treat.” A water station will be set up midway into the run and at the finish line. Registration by April 1 for the 5K is $25 for ages 13 and over and $15 for those age 12 and under. All participants will receive a t-shirt.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics for Spec is the single largest year-round fundraising vehicle benefiting Special Olympics Illinois. Special Olympics is a non-profit organization providing year-round sports training and competition in 18 sports for over 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and nearly 9,000 young athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities.
Coffee with a Cop
A few days later, Huntley Police Department and Huntley Area Park District will host “Coffee with a Cop” on April 4 at Causman Theater. The coffee begins at 8:15 a.m. Then bingo will begin at 9:30 a.m.
