
Special Olympics event postponed
HUNTLEY — The Huntley Police Department postponed its second annual 5K run-walk event, “Don’t Be Fooled by a Disability” event until Saturday, May 6 at the Huntley Town Square. This was done due to weather April 1.
All funds raised will benefit Special Olympics Illinois.
“Don’t Be Fooled by a Disability” 5K to benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois. Registration for the 5K will start at 7:45 a.m., followed by a Torch Lighting Ceremony at 8:50 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m.
The 5K event’s route will be start at Coral Street, going north on Church Street; east on Algonquin Road; south on Haligus Road; west on Main Street back to the Huntley Town Square.
Special Olympics Athletes will award runners at the finish line with a foolish treat. A water station will be set up midway into the run and at the finish line.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest year-round fundraising vehicle benefiting Special Olympics Illinois. Special Olympics is a nonprofit organization providing year-round sports training and competition in 18 sports for over 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and nearly 9,000 young athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics transforms the lives of people with intellectual disabilities through training and competition.
