Rowe thanks community for 12 ‘wonderful years’ serving Dist. 158
HUNTLEY — Huntley School District 158 is embarking on a transitional phase in its top leadership role as Superintendent Dr. Scott Rowe as appointed to be the new Superintendent of Northwest High School District 214 based in Arlington Heights on April 13. He was unanimously hired to be District 214’s next superintendent, starting July 1.
Rowe informed the District 158 community members of his new appointment in a letter the next day. Rowe said the superintendent’s position will not be an action item at the April 20 board of education meeting, it probably will be on the agenda at the May meetings.
“As we move through this next transition period, Huntley 158’s Board of Education is considering the appointment of an interim superintendent for the 2023-24 school year and will communicate the details of their decision making process to you as soon as possible. The process of finding next leader of Huntley District 158 is incredibly important and will require the voices of all of our stakeholders,” Rowe said.
Rowe was appointed school superintendent for Huntley District 158 in 2018 after serving as the Huntley High School principal.
Rowe’s letter:
“I have proudly served Huntley District 158 for 12 wonderful years, and I have enjoyed every minute of it,” Rowe wrote.
“I am writing to share that last night (April 13) I was formally approved by the District 214 Board of Education to become their next superintendent, effective July 1. Although I am extremely excited about the opportunity and challenge this new role will provide me, it is a bittersweet announcement. Huntley District 158 and all of the people working here have made coming to work every day over the past 12 years a blessing more than a chore. Our students, staff and entire community have left a lasting impact on me, one that is evident in the work we have been able to accomplish over the past 12 years as partners in education.”
He continued, “our work has shifted the conversation around what a school experience can be and we have pushed the boundaries of traditional education. I can’t tell you how proud I am of the work we have done together and ways in which we have been able to serve the children of our community.”
“I want to thank our community for your steadfast support during my tenure as a principal and superintendent in District 158 and I know you will continue to support our wonderful school district. I hope you will continue to push the district to innovate alongside our students and offer an education that evolves to reflect the needs of a well-rounded, modern-day learner. I cannot stress enough the importance of the work of our educators.”
Rowe concluded, “each day, District 158 staff works the best interest of our students to shape their future. More than ever, they need your support as they strive to make a positive impact on our community and provide our children the education they deserve.”
An incoming Huntley District 158 Board of Education member, Gina Galligar, commented on the change in leadership.
“While I was looking forward to working closely with Dr. Rowe, this is a wonderful opportunity for him in District 214. I am looking forward to being part of the search process for a new superintendent and can’t wait for the opportunity to work with him or her.”
