
More information released about a fatal hit-and-run crash in McHenry County
FOX LAKE—On May 30, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release regarding a fatality involving a 39-year-old North Chicago man following a hit-and-run crash that occurred on May 29 at approximately 2:08 a.m.
On the day of the incident, members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the Fox Lake Police Department, the Spring Grove Police Department, the Richmond Police Department, and the Spring Grove Fire Department responded to a crash involving the North Chicago man, who was found on the roadway unconscious and not breathing.
Authorities reported that the man had been struck by what is believed to be a white Kia Forte. The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim’s vehicle got stuck in a ditch near the accident location.
The man was outside of his vehicle near the roadway when the suspect vehicle, which was traveling southbound on Wilmot Road just north of Paddock Drive, struck him. The vehicle failed to stop and left the scene. The North Chicago man was pronounced dead at the crash site.
On June 1, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office released an update in which they stated that the suspect’s car, the white Kia Forte, has damage on the front end. Authorities are unsure whether the vehicle is a two or four-door Kia Forte.
