
Girls golf ready for regional
HUNTLEY — A top four finish in the Fox Valley Conference tournament, close to the runner-up team, as the Huntley girls golf team ready for the post-season.
Their Class 2A regional is Sept. 28 at Atwood Golf Course near Machesney Park with the sectional at Whisper Oak in Huntley Oct. 2.
The Red Raiders finished in fourth place with a 380 score as a team for the FVC tourney. Dingbaum ended with the best Red Raiders finish at fifth with an 89 score; Sloan was ninth at 94 Lackovic and Busky each shot a 99. Crystal Lake Central co-op took home the top honor with a 354 score as FVC tournament champs with McHenry second at 371 and Hampshire third, 375.
“We got second in the FVC,(overall) and the girls battled hard,” HHS coach Lindsay Allen said. “It’s a great way to prepare for the regional tournament, to build with the 18-hole format. All the girls have shot their personal best and the scores are steadily dropping.”
Overall in the FVC season, Dingbaum led the Red Raiders with 38 total points for fourth; Sloan totaled 21 for ninth and Busky ended with 10 for ninth.
The Red Raiders finished the dual matches with a 7-0 record after a win over Burlington Central at Whisper Creek in Huntley. Busky led the team that match.
JV conference: Ava Lodwwyck led the Red Raiders as she shot a 56 for seventh place.
