Crudele: seniors grew as a unit
HUNTLEY — Jack Crudele, Huntley senior offensive lineman has one of the mainstays om the line of scrimmage for the Red Raiders. He answered questions about his HHS football experiences.
Describe the togetherness of the Class of 2024?
Crudele: “There have been a few changes since our Class of 2024 freshman year. We got to see who really cared for the sport of football and this team. We grew as a unit and are ready to play our best football. I bounced around the interior offensive line from left guard my freshman year to center and then to right guard my junior and senior seasons.”
Describe your youth football career and any other sports?
Crudele: “I threw (shot put and discus) on the track and field team in middle school and that was my intro to sports. Later I joined football in high school. Never played youth football.”
Any recent grads who helped you in your work ethic?
Crudele: “Certain grads from the Class of 2023 are Peyton Grannis, Boston Bower, and some of our former lineman motivate me to keep working hard. More importantly I want us to keep writing history for Huntley football.”
Most memorable outstanding performance?
Crudele: “I focus on my consistency rather than one big game. Memorable team wins would be our 2022 win against ranked No. 8 in the state Jacobs (37-20) and our win over Cary-Grove (29-28 on Oct. 7) in their homecoming.”
Biggest challenge and how you overcame it.
Crudele: “Injuries and mental toughness were some things I had to learn while playing football and to push through pain.”
What will you miss about HHS? College selection and intended major?
Crudele: “I’m going to miss the culture the Class of 2024 built here at Huntley. Haven’t committed to college yet but I plan to study health science and PT in college. I have one offer to play football at Carthage College (Kenosha, Wis.).
Professional athlete you most admire?
Crudele: “Tim Tebow (former quarterback)is my favorite professional athlete as he always kept his Christian faith first and it paid off when he played football.”
Team goals the remainder of the season?
Crudele: “Our goals are to win out and win in the playoffs but most importantly play the best football we can play as seniors and as a team.”
