Offender arrested in Huntley for committing internet crimes against children
HUNTLEY — In a press release from Deputy Chief Linda Hooten, it was revealed that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided the Huntley Police Department with information about the possible possession of child pornography by an unidentified Internet subscriber in the area.
The information was obtained back in June from the Internet Crimes Against Children database, where after a four-month investigation, the Huntley Police Department’s Investigations Division was able to identify the offender as 29-year-old Allen Q. Nguyen.
According to Hooten, in the early morning hours of Oct. 24, Huntley Police detectives, with the assistance of the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, served a search warrant at a residence in the 10400 block of Auburn Court, where Nguyen was renting a room.
Nguyen was taken into custody based on evidence gained during the search, stated authorities. He was later transported to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility in Woodstock and was charged with the following:
Two Class X felonies for attempting to reproduce or distribute child pornography with a victim under the age of 13 and two Class 2 felonies for the possession of visual reproduction of child pornography on a computer and/or video containing a victim under the age of 13.
The investigation is still active, with no further information expected to be released at this time.
Nguyen’s next court date is scheduled to take place on Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 302 of the McHenry County Courthouse in Woodstock.
