
Carpentersville Police Department continues to investigate the homicide of a 17-year-old
CARPENTERSVILLE—On Oct. 25, at approximately 8:36 p.m., Carpentersville Police officers responded to the 60 block of Birch Street for a report of shots fired.
According to Carpentersville Police Chief Todd Shaver, once officers arrived at the scene, they located a 17-year-old male victim lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the head. The male juvenile was transported to a local hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Two additional victims were also discovered with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. Both of those victims were transported to area hospitals and treated for their injuries.
Shaver states that the preliminary investigation indicates shots having been fired at a vehicle near the 30 block of Robin Road. It is then believed that the vehicle was driven to Birch Street where the victims called for help for the injuries they had sustained.
In an Oct. 26 update, the Carpentersville Police Department announced that a 19-year-old male and a 16-year-old male were taken into custody concerning the shooting death of the 17-year-old victim.
Shaver added that both persons of interest are Carpentersville residents and are currently being held at the Carpentersville Police Department pending further investigation.
The names of the suspects are being withheld until charges have been authorized by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Carpentersville Police detectives and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force are continuing to investigate the matter.
Authorities believe the shooting to be an isolated incident that poses no further threats to the community currently.
