Fundraising efforts started for Kane County Sheriff’s Detective critically injured in a car accident
KANE COUNTY—On Oct. 30, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office officially announced “The Yard Foundation, Support Detective Brian Anderson: Rebuilding Hope After a Tragic Accident,” donation page, which will allow community members an opportunity to support Anderson as he continues to recover from critical injuries he sustained while en route to conduct surveillance on a robbery suspect.
As previously reported, on Oct. 23, 33-year-old Anderson was traveling southbound on Route 47, just south of Plank Road in Hampshire Township, when his unmarked Dodge Durango squad car was struck head-on by a Dually Dodge 5500 landscaping pickup truck with an attached loaded trailer.
Anderson was reportedly pinned in his vehicle for about 45 minutes before he was able to be airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
According to Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain, Anderson went in for a second surgery on Oct. 25 to continue repairs on a multitude of crushed bones he sustained from the waist down. Since that time, Anderson has undergone four total surgeries with more to come due to the extent of his injuries.
“Despite being on duty, unforeseen expenses are mounting, posing an additional challenge for Brian and his family. A prolonged period of wheelchair use and home modifications during rehabilitation adds to the complexities they face,” wrote the organizers of Anderson’s fundraiser. “Brian and his wife, Michelle, parents to a two-year-old girl, need our support. Your contribution will directly assist in covering the myriad of unforeseen expenses arising from this tragic incident, ensuring Brian receives the care and resources necessary for his recovery.”
As of Nov. 1, Anderson’s fundraiser has raised over $16,000 of its $25,000 goal.
